Many Shinobi are gifted from birth with various talents. There are Shinobi that are gifted with abilities from birth, Doujutsu, and other Shinobi who work for their abilities. But when it comes down to it, most all Shinobi have one type of style they are best at. Whether it be Genjutsu, Ninjutsu or Taijutsu. This will go over the basic principals of classes.
Characters are allowed to have mastery in one of the three main types (Genjutsu, Ninjutsu, or Taijutsu) and are only allowed to be from one other class/clan. No mixing clans (except with the Medical Class), however unique clans can be allowed.
Taijutsu
Taijutsu is one of the three main techniques of Shinobi. It is a combat style which involves using the body to fight with. Mostly punching and kicking, however people who master Taijutsu can develop much more advance techniques than just a simple punch or kick.
Ninjutsu
Ninjutsu is one of the three main techniques of a Shinobi. It is a style based on mental and physical attributes. Mental and Physical energy must be in unison and then by creating a seal with the hand(s) a technique can be executed. Some techniques are neutral, but many have specific elements. There are five main elements; Fire (Katon), Water (Suiton), Wind (Fuuton), Lightning (Raiton), and Earth (Doton). There is an unlimited amount of possible techniques as many elements can be mixed together to create greater techniques.
Genjutsu
Genjutsu is one of the three main techniques of a Shinobi. It is a style of the mind. It uses chakra and seals (much like Ninjutsu) in order to cause hallucinations or illusions that will confuse their opponents. Some Genjutsu techniques many leave a victim unconscious or confused, unsure of reality and fiction. However some more advanced techniques can cause bodily harm or even death.

Uchiha
The Uchiha is a powerful clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. They have a unique ocular Doujutsu, Sharingan. It allows them to break illusions and many other techniques as well as develop powerful Genjutsu. There are four levels of the Sharingan, each is more advanced than the last. It is said that the Sharingan is a cursed Doujutsu that decents from the Hyuuga's Byakugan.

The Hyuuga is a powerful clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. They have a unique ocular Doujutsu, Byakugan. It allows them to see in an almost complete 360 degree angle around them. In this state all objects are broken down into chakra and this is how they identify everything. They are able to seal chakra points with their advanced Taijutsu techniques.

The Nara is a clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. The Nara Clan is a unique group of Ninja who can manipulate their shadows and those caught within' the users shadow cannot move. It puts strain on their bodies and can only be kept constant for so long, however there are all types of different manipulations that can be done to be used offensively and defensively.

The Kaguya is a powerful clan that was from the Water Country. The Kaguya was a bloodthirsty clan that sought only for combat. Their techniques, gruesome, were very deadly. However the clan foolishly attempted to destroy their home Country. Unlike the Haku Clan, they sought to kill rather than be killed. They failed to destroy the Country and inevitably were annihilated. It is said that no one from this clan remains. The Clan has the unique ability to use their chakra to manipulate their bones creating powerful offense and defense as well as create new bones for those that are lost.

The Inuzuka is a clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. Inuzuka are a unique Clan that have bonds with various animals, usually a breed of dog or wolf. Although other animals are available. The Shinobi and Animal preform techniques together. They are a strong Taijutsu based clan which can overcome many obstacles.

The Akimichi is a clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. Akimichi is a clan that is unique as it can alter their size. They are generally more plump than other Shinobi and rely on their calories for energy to preform powerful Taijutsu techniques. They also rely on the secret hyourougan pills (Blue, Yellow, Red).

The Aburame is a powerful clan that resides in Konoha: Village Hidden in the Leaf. Aburame is a very unique Clan that contracts their bodies with insects. At birth the members of this Clan give their body as a habitat for insects. The insects feed off of the chakra of the body and lend their strength to the member. Many deadly techniques can be used by those from the Aburame Clan.

The Haku is a powerful clan that resides in the Water Country. It was said that the entire clan was massacred. The Villege Hidden in the Mist blamed the Clan for constant wars and strife. As a result the Country turned on them and killed the entire Clan. Many people merely hid their abilities and tried to live normal lives, giving up on being a Shinobi for hopes of staying alive. Regardless the Bloodline Limit is a powerful one, being able to naturally combine Wind and Water Elements to form a powerful Ice Element.

Ranmaru Clan (Unknown/Unnamed)
The Ranmaru Clan is relatively unknown in style and origin. Although some believe it comes from somewhere in the Lightning Country. They have a unique ocular Doujutsu that is a hybrid state of Byakugan and Sharingan. It gives more inner perception than the Byakugan, allowing them to see through solid objects, see the life force of a target, and allow them to see perfectly during night. It also allows them to create illusions and see partial movement of an opponent before it happens. Ultimately it can disrupt the Byakugan from being able to see through anything, making it just a waste of chakra for the Hyuuga that go up against those from the Ranmaru Clan.

Medical
Medical Ninja focus on healing arts to support other Ninja. Medical Ninja are scarce and until after many wars they weren't utilized in combat. One of the great Sanin: Tsunade was first to propose putting a medical Shinobi onto each squad of ninja to help reduce causalities. Now it has become routine. A good medical ninja can cure a variety of wounds, from basic cuts to broken bonds and deep wounds. Note: Medical Ninja can be a secondary class for any clan or other class type.

Jinchuuriki
Jinchuuriki is a unique class as only a few Jinchuuriki can exist at a time. Creatures known as Bijuu roam the world, each Bijuu has a unique and terrifying power. Many countries sought to capture the Bijuu and use their power to gain military dominance. However the Bijuu are far too powerful for mere humans to control, yet people attempted anyway. By sealing a Bijuu into a human, the human becomes a host for the Bijuu, a Jinchuuriki. The human can learn to use the Bijuu's power for their own, while at the same time that very power could be potentially dangerous. A Jinchuuriki's life is linked to the Bijuu.

A Taijutsu Specialist is someone who has absolutely no talent for Genjutsu or Ninjutsu, they have no control over Chakra and cannot use it. As a result all they can do is train themselves in Taijutsu causing them to attain a complex mastery of the art.
