Ranking System

Academy Student
The Academy Student is the lowest rank of Shinobi in the village. They are just learning the basics. They learn what's best on paper and get some combat training in Taijutsu and Tools. They have practical knowledge of basic jutsus: Henge no Jutsu, Bunshin no Jutsu, and Kawarimi no Jutsu.

Genin
Genin are official Shinobi of a village but are the lowest rank of actual Shinobi. They are lead by a Jounin and taught further skills. These skills range from combat, teamwork, chakra control, and mannerisms. Genin are allowed to do D rank and sometimes C rank missions.

Chuunin
Chuunin are the next step up from Genin. They are weeded out from the Genin in the Chuunin Exam. Chuunin show exemplary skills in combat and teamwork. They have incredible inner wisdom and judgment, making them a good team leader. Chuunin will lead their own team of three. They thus have greater responsibilities, the lives of their comrades and the outcome of the mission. A Chuunin are allowed to do C rank and B rank missions.

Jounin
Jounin are the elite Shinobi of a village. They are weeded out from the Chuunin, hand picked by the Kage him/herself. They are highly skilled in all different arts. From Ninjutsu to Fuuinjutsu. They must have incredible insight and skill. They will lead their own team of Genin, training and molding them. Jounin can take on A and S rank missions.

Sanin
Special Rank. This is a unique rank that can only be acknowledged by someone of greater strength from a different country. Sanin represents a Shinobi who rivals the Kage in power and skill.

ANBU
Secret Operatives Rank. The ANBU are extremely skilled Shinobi. They have incredible skills in all forms of jutsus, but focus on protection and assassination. They are the body guards of the Kage and are thus hand picked by the Kage. They can be asked to do S rank missions but primarily they protect the Kage.

Missing Ninja
A Shinobi who leaves their village, abandoning the beliefs of that village and taking up their own is a Missing Ninja.

Kage
The Leader of a Village in one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. The Kage is acknowledged by everyone for their great power. They are picked by the council of the village if something happens to the original. A Kage has the greatest amount of chakra and technique in the entire village, shadowing every other Shinobi. However their job is not to fight, but to lead. They oversee other ninja in training, help pick new Jounin and ANBU. As well as pass laws.

Testing
Notice: Testing will only commence when an Administrator declares it. Tests can be requested but don't take it upon yourself to advance yourself as you see fit.

Genin Test
The Genin Test is the test to become a Genin. All Academy Students must take it in order to graduate. Upon graduation they will receive the honorary Steel-Plated Headband.
The Test is primarily composed of 10 questions. If a Shinobi misses three of the ten questions they fail.
Additionally the tester must demonstrate their ability to use "Bunshin no Jutsu" by creating at least 1 perfect copy of themselves.

Chuunin Test
The Chuunin Test is more complex and advanced than the Genin. It tests the individual and teamwork skills of Shinobi. A whole team must be present to take the test. Those who take this test put their life on the line. When a Genin passes this test they will receive a Chuunin Jacket. Notice: The Chuunin Test is hosted by the Leaf Village with spectators and leaders from all other countries coming to see the final rounds, so if you are in another Village you will be escorted or have to travel to the Leaf Village.
The Test is composed of three different tests.
The First is a written test composed of 10 questions. If any of the three members of the team miss two questions the whole team fails.
The Second part pits the gathered teams against each other in the Forest of Death. The team must work together to stay alive and capture a Scroll. Some teams are given the Scroll of Heaven the others are given the Scroll of Earth. The teams who bring both to the Tower in the center of the Forest will move on.
The Final Test is a tournament to test the individual fighting skills of a Shinobi. During the tournament the team is broken apart and each Shinobi will act on their own free will to take part in it or not. Death is allowed during the tournament, but is strongly discouraged. The test measures skill and tactics. It is not simply enough to be strongest but to be able to realize weaknesses and strengths. A Chuunin must be able to identify many things as they lead teams of their own and hold the lives of their comrades in their hands.
